True Worship: Justice and Compassion Together
God warned Israel through Isaiah: “Bring no more vain offerings... I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.” (Isaiah 1:13). Religious actions become empty when separated from obedience and compassion for others. Basil the Great saw that piety without mercy is a hollow shell. God cares for our worship—but He also insists that our hearts and lives align with His command for justice. Are we keeping worship rituals, yet neglecting the needs of our neighbor? When love for God and love for others grow together, our worship becomes authentic and pleasing.
